Description

Engraving on unsigned laid paper from the well-known engraving by the Italian artist dedicated to the Empress of Russia Catherine II. The subject depicts Russian troops assaulting the fortress of Ochakov (now Ochakiv, Ukraine) led by Prince Grigory Potemkin and Alexander Suvorov during the Second Siege of Ochakov in 1788, in the Russo-Turkish War of 1787 – 1792. Flaws present, unframed. Copper engraving, dimensions 23.8×29.5 in.
