Description

At the top is a cartouche bearing the inscription ‘Illustrissimo, Reverendissimo Dnc, D. Frederico Borromeo, Cardinale S. Maria de Angelis, Archiepiscopo Medeolanensi. H Goltzius in debiti officij, atq amoris testimonium D.D.’. In the centre of the composition in a cartouche is the date ‘A.1598’, at the bottom the monogram HG ‘ Cum privil. Sa CeM.’; flaws present, unframed. Copper engraving, dimensions 7.6×5.1 in.
