Description

Important etching depicting architectural and sculptural fragments from the Palatine Hill; in the centre is an ideal view of the Circus Maximus. At the bottom there is the inscription ‘La statua e il capitello Corintio, esistono agli Orti Britanici e tutti gli altri si conservano nel Museo di Pal. Farnese – Li frammenti trovati nel Palatino disegnati ed incisi dal vero da Luigi Rossini – A. Idea del Circo Massimo – Roma 1828’. Flaws present, unframed. Etching, dimensions 21.2×31.4 in.
