Description

A graphic work on laid paper and watermark, it bears at the foot the signature ‘Piranesi F.’ and the following inscriptions: ‘Haec epigraphe, quoe in aedibus farnesianis Romae servatur, edita olim fuit a grutero, et Fleetwood’. And again: ‘Ex ipso Lapide accuratius descriptam hoc loco adposiumus; quod iis, quae dicta sunt non parum consentiat, ut apparet ex adjecto schemate’. Flaws present, unframed. Etching, dimensions 15.3×23.6 in.
