Description

An important watercoloured engraving, the cartouche in the middle of the composition bears the inscription ‘Orbis Vetus in utraqu e continente – jusct? mentem Sensonianam distinctus, nec non observarionibus astronomicis redactus, accurante Robert de Vaugony Geographo Regis ordinario. 1752. Cum Privilegio Regis’ and at the bottom ‘Lutetiae Parisiorum; apud Autorem in ripa Sequanae, ab horologio palatii dicta, prope pontem novum. – Et apud Ant. Boudet Bibliopolam et Typographum regis in via S.ti Jacobi’. Flaws present, unframed. Copper engraving, dimensions 20.4×28.7 in.
