Description
After an apprenticeship with his father Vincenzo, the painter was dazzled by the experience of Caravaggio-style shadow painting, which was to influence all his work from then on. Here, however, the mythological tale is already mediated by the important naturalistic lesson that the painter deduces from Orazio Gentileschi: the synthesis between these two pictorial tensions will lead him to be highly appreciated at the Medici court. – Oil on canvas, dimensions ext. 73,6×53,1, int. 67,7×47,2 in.
