Description

Series of seven engravings from the ‘Grandes Mis?res’ series, depicting ‘The Enlistment of the Troops (The Encampment)’, ‘The Battle’, ‘The Devastation of a Monastery’, ‘The Hunt for Evildoers’, ‘The Hospital’, ‘The Beggars and the Agonised’ and ‘The Distribution of the Rewards’. Respectively, tables number 2 – 3 – 6 – 9 – 15 – 16 – 18. At the bottom of sheet 18 is the inscription ‘Callot Israel excudit’, on the others ‘Israel ex. cum Privilegio Regio’. Absent inscription on plate 9, flaws and restorations present, unframed. Copper engraving, dimensions 5.1×9.6 in. ca. each
