Description

The Trojan hero is depicted carrying his father Anchises on his shoulders followed by his son Ascanius and his wife Creusa holding a votive statue. In the background the city in flames.
The relief – signed He Bauer (Johann Leonhard Bauer, Hamburg, 1681 – 1760) – of very high quality of execution, is taken from the engraving by Nicolas Gabriel Dupuis (Paris 1698-1771) now in the National Library in Paris. – Dimensions 6,2×4,7×1,1 in.
